FINAL PROJECTS

PARTNER PORTRAITS

The portrait project was our first project and it helped us start our program off with getting to know each other. We got a picture of our partner and learnt about their interests and hobbies. It was a way for us to get to know others in the program and we also got to try out/practice our portrait drawings. It provided a great challenge for everyone and was a perfect way for us to tackle new art forms. Creating a portrait of someone and seeing how everyone else made their portrait was a wonderful experience.

POWER OBJECTS

We were inspired by Chicago=based artist, Rhonda Wheatley’s Power Objects to create our own!

Make, draw, imagine your power object. It can be assembled of random objects, a drawing, or a photo of these objects. It can be an altar. Think of what that power object could do for you.

Thank you to Irina Zadov, Rhonda Wheatley, Mallory Muya for inspiration from their Power Objects Lesson Plan.

MURAL DESIGN

We designed protest murals. For this activity we looked at murals as artistic expression and tools of protest. From the Mexican muralists to Chicago’s "Wall of Respect", to current Chicago artists working in public spaces,
