Creativity Caught Me Making

THE ARTWORK

Through portraits we got to know each other and learn more about ourselves because we had to express it through art.
We participated in The Official Unofficial Voting Project by Chicago-based artist, Aram Han Sifuentes and created artwork in response to voting rights and social issues represented (and not) on the ballot.
Following a virtual visit from US Air Force Veteran and Chicano Artist, Eric J. Garcia, we think about the art skills we have explored and social practice to create self-directed final projects.

Verónica Casado Hernández

ASM Instructor

I am a visual artist, cultural historian, and educator based in Chicago, Illinois. In my studio and writing practice I engage in trans historical drag, and use anachronisms as tools of critical examination that address narratives of power and rebellion. I enjoy reading, walking, taking naps, and immerse myself in byzantine discussions that aim to dismantle white heteropatriarchal capitalism.
