Grant passed away in 2002 following a short and courageous battle with brain cancer, we hike still in uniform Grant was a 1999 graduate of BBCHS from Bourbonnais, Illinois. Growing up Grant loved playing baseball and football. He achieved High School letters in both. He also was All Star, All Area, and All conference in both sports. Grant was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears Fan. He loved his WWF wrestling and attended several WrestleMania events. Grant joined the Army in 2000. He was serving with A-5th Engineers.

Here are statements made by his proud and loving father:

“Grant was a hard charging young man who valued the title of ‘Soldier’. They once said if you could take Grant’s enthusiasm, pride and work ethic and print it on a poster, distributing it throughout America’s U.S. Army recruiters, there would never be a problem getting enlistees."

"Grant believed in Fight always, love with True Heart, never give up, know pride, and lead by example. COLD STEEL."

"Grant was the best kid ever – he was just a kid taken too soon.”

-Grant's Father, Andrew Yohnka
